Tipi Adventure is based alongside the banks of the River Wye, renowned for its stunning scenery & wildlife, making canoeing our most popular activity. In addition to canoeing we offer kayaking, gorge walking, climbing, abseiling, bushcraft & survival sessions and walking. There are also many points of interest located nearby, including Goodrich Castle and Symonds Yat.

Canoeing & Kayaking

Age restrictions: minimum age of 4 yrs. Adult:Child ratios in place for under 18s. Please see our FAQ page.

Must have previous experience with closed-deck kayaks.

We offer a number of routes and itineraries for canoeing and kayaking to suit your needs and abilities. Full or half day and multi-day trips are available, as well as the option of self-guided or guided trips (min. 8 persons).

Our most popular option is the multi-day trip - start with an overnight stay in a tipi before being transported to Hoarwithy or Ross-on-Wye for launch, spend the day paddling back to the tipi site for your 2nd overnight stay. The following day, paddle to either Symonds Yat or Monmouth where you will be transported back to the Tipi site for a 3rd overnight stay. 

 

Cycling & Mountain Biking

Pedalabikeaway Cycle Centre features 11 miles of safe, traffic free cycle trails, suitable for all ages and abilities. For the more adventurous, there are plenty of trails for mountain biking. Take your own bicycles, hire them at the centre or book an instructor with us, who will guide you around some of the Forest's hidden trails.

Great team building activities! Don your wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet and spend a wonderful few hours with your guide and group walking, scrambling, climbing, abseiling and leaping into plunge pools in stunning, magical locations throughout England & Wales.

This Bushcraft & Survival Taster Session is a great course for anyone who is new to bushcraft and wanting to find out what it's all about. In the beautiful Forest of Dean you will learn about fire starting, camp building and basic knife skills. Surrounded by wildlife and a vast array of natural resources, this course will provide you with a good grounding in basic bushcraft & survival.

Walking

There is a footpath accessible from the Tipi base which follows the River Wye for 2 miles to Kerne Bridge, or in the other direction for approximately 4 miles to the market town of Ross-on-Wye. From Kerne Bridge you can visit the village of Goodrich which features a 19th Century Country Inn, The Hostelrie, as well as Goodrich Castle, one of the finest and best preserved of all English medieval castles. From Kerne Bridge you can also join the Wye Valley Walk. 

There are an abundance of wonderful walking trails in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty including those at Symonds Yat, a popular tourist destination, featuring the internationally famous Yat Rock Viewpoint. Discover the ancient hill fort, spot birds of prey (the Peregrine falcon nests in the surrounding cliffs) and admire the breathtaking views. 

 

Goodrich Castle

Goodrich Castle, seen in the distance from the Tipi base, is a Norman Medieval Castle and English Heritage Site. The Castle is home to the 'Roaring Meg', the only surviving Civil War mortar.

 

Go Ape - Tree Top Adventure & Forest Segway

Enjoy two-three hours in the trees taking on Zip Wires, Tarzan Swings, Rope Ladders and a variety of obstacles and crossings. This Go Ape Treetop Adventure in the Forest of Dean, England's largest oak woodland, has had a complete redesign for 2016. There is also a Tree Top Junior Adventure just down the road at Beechenhurst Lodge (Postcode: GL16 7EJ). 

Forest Segway is the epic adventure with a down-to-earth twist. Cruise and explore the forest floor on the all-terrain, self balancing, electric Segways (min. age 10 yrs).
